The Inspiration
I noticed that children of support staff in my community had almost no access to quality education—a gap that felt, to me, like an unsolved problem worth understanding, not just sympathizing with. That realization inspired me to create Pragyan Summer Learning Camp, a 100+ hour community initiative designed to spark intellectual curiosity in 5–10 underprivileged children (ages 8–12).
Building Pragyan
I designed an experiential learning curriculum that used drawing, gardening, and mock shopping trips to connect abstract arithmetic with everyday life. To bring the initiative to life, I organized a community donation drive for books and learning materials, prepared daily snacks, and transformed my family's garage into a classroom, creating a welcoming environment where children could learn with confidence.
Personal Growth
Leading Pragyan challenged me far beyond academics. I had to overcome self-doubt, develop confidence in public speaking, and learn what genuine empathy for struggling learners truly means. The experience taught me that meaningful education begins with patience, trust, and understanding.
Impact & Recognition
The impact was tangible. Every child learned to count, calculate, and make change in real-world situations, while several later enrolled in formal schooling, crediting Pragyan as the turning point in their educational journey. In 2024, Pragyan was recognized as the Best Community Project by EFIL, affirming that identifying one meaningful gap—and pursuing it with purpose—can transform what a child believes is possible for their future.
